DERR, JOHN IRVING DR.
DERR, John Irving Dr. Born March 8, 1927, in Dallas Texas. Passed away March 1, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif. Served in the Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant JG, aboard the destroyer USS Otter. Graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1950, and achieved a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA in 1972. Member of Sigma XI fraternity. Dr. Derr worked at the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, Calif., from 1954 to 1972, and at Litton Data Systems in Van Nuys, Calif., until his retirement in 1995. He is survived by son John Irving Derr Jr. of Chevy Chase, Md., daughter-in-law M. Lynn Derr of Washington, D.C., son Andrew Derr of Los Angeles, his special lady Phoebe Evans of Lancaster Calif., sister Marjorie Gatzke of San Antonio, Texas, sister Mary Hand of Dallas, Texas, and brother James Derr of Waxahachie, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at high noon on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church, 856 W. Newgrove Street, Lancaster, Calif. Subsequent internment to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, Ohio.
