KNIGHT, Georgia Louise (Maiden name Georgia Louise Bramlet) Born June 10, 1922, in Eldorado, Illinois. Died February 5, 2010, at the age of 87 at her home in Lancaster, California. A resident of the Antelope Valley since 1973, Georgia shared her love of reading with our community during her many years of service as both an active tutor as well as the Coordinator of the Los Angeles County Literacy program through the Quartz Hill Public Library. Her efforts were instrumental in the development of this valuable program, which assisted Antelope Valley residents to improve their reading, writing and language skills. Her many students credited her with providing them the necessary skills to qualify for job promotions as well as enhancing their self esteem. Prior to her retirement in 2002, Georgia's hard work over the years resulted in the Quartz Hill program having the largest enrollment of students, as well as the largest number of recruited tutors in the Los Angeles County Library system. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband Colonel John J. Knight (USAF). She is survived by son William Christopher Knight, his wife Susan; daughter Laura Elam Ray; daughter Sarah Hitchcock, Sarah's husband Ron Hitchcock; son John Knight; and daughter Martha Elizabeth Knight; as well as 13 grandchildren; Sacha Knight, Jessica Knight Schramm, Jacquelyn Knight, Phillip Knight, Dyana Elam, Kara Elam, Amanda Elam, Georgia Hitchcock, Daniel Hitchcock, Jacob Knight, Lauren Knight; and five great-grandchildren; Nicholas Love, Kobe Love, Cadence Schramm, Jackson Love and Jordan Love. Additionally, Georgia is survived by her brother, Michael Weinsting; her nephew Mitchell Weinsting and his wife Beth Weinsting; and her niece Robyn Weinsting. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, February, 26, 2010, Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010, all at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Chapel, Lancaster. Graveside services immediately following at Joshua Memorial Park. Donations in Georgia's memory may be made to Friends of the Quartz Hill Library.
