FESSENDEN, JAMES LESTER
69, died on February 5, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif. Jim was born on June 24, 1940, in San Bernardino, Calif., and grew up in the Antelope Valley. Jim graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1958, and headed to Fresno State for 2 years, he then joined and served in the U.S. Navy. Jim was an independent business owner most of his life. His endeavors included the Leona Valley Superette, Davy Jones Locker and the Irish Rose Saloon in Waikiki, Hawaii. Jim also spent time in Alaska working as a cook on the Alaskan Pipeline and even did some commercial fishing. Retirement #1 FESSENDEN, James Lester took Jim and Elaine to the island of Molokai where they became the local Lime Farmers. Retirement #2 took Jim and Elaine back to the family farm in Remus, Michigan where they spent 9 months out of the year. The other 3 months they traveled to Palmdale, Calif., where they spent time with Lois Fessenden, Jims mom. Jim spent many years on the golf course, but more recently he focused on his Vintage Corvette and being the beloved head of two loving families. Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elaine Fessenden and mother, Lois Fessenden, he is also survived by three sons, James and wife Ann, John and wife Tracey, Jeff and wife Val, and daughter, Jill and partner Barbara Wynne, sister, Jo Ann Weldon, 6 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, George Fessenden and his brother, George Fessenden, II. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the Palmdale Masonic Lodge.
