HAYWOOD, Audrey Lorraine Passed away January 26, 2010, after a brief illness. Born November 27, 1929, she was raised in Venice, Calif., and later settled in Aqua Dulce, Calif. Known by her friends and family as Lorraine, she spent the majority of her career as a retail clerk for Safeway Stores in Newhall and Canyon Country. In 1993, Lorraine retired to Laughlin, Nev., where she dedicated her time to volunteering for many important causes in her community. Lorraine was an original board member of the Colorado River Food Bank where she also volunteered almost weekly until her passing. She also served two terms on the Laughlin Town Advisory Board with two years as Board President. Lorraine also served on the boards of the Laughlin Seniors Association and her local Homeowners Association. Lorraine's tireless and gracious contributions helped to make the lives of many Laughlin residents better and she was recognized for her efforts by Clark County as Laughlin Citizen of the Year for 1996 - 1997. Lorraine is survived by her sister Barbara, sons, Joseph (Karen), Patrick (Kristen), Michael (Beverly), her daughter Monica Murgatroyd (Joe), grandchildren Joseph and Kyle Haywood, Jennifer Haywood, Andrew, Stephanie and Megan Rissler, Heather, Kristin, and Michael Haywood, Joe (Tricia) and Thomas Murgatroyd, and great- granddaughter Lexi Murgatroyd. She was recently preceded in death by her grandson Michael Haywood. Lorraine also leaves behind many cherished friends and colleagues who all gave her great love and support in her golden years. A Memorial Service celebrating Lorraine's life will be held this spring in Laughlin.
