HIBBARD, Walter Earl entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2010, at Guma Residential Care in Lancaster. He was 100 years old. A huge birthday party was held for him in September in Lancaster that was attended by many friends and family members. The Antelope Valley Press did an article on the event and covered much of his life history. Earl was born in Ibapah, Utah but spent much of his life in the Antelope Valley, first moving here in 1953. He was employed in the aircraft industry as an instrumentation technician. He and his wife Wanda settled in Leona Valley and went into the chicken raising business before their retirement. Earl is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Ashworth Hibbard. He is survived by his son Jerry Earl Hibbard and his wife Margaret, his daughter Gwyn Benson and her husband Richard and daughter Barbara Bright, sixteen grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren 25 great-great- grandchildren. He was blessed with loving grandchildren who spoiled him with gifts, visits and outings and always included him in family gatherings. He lived a long and happy life of travel and adventure. An avid pilot, he owned airplanes in his youth and built his own airplane at the age of 77. He loved riding his dirt bike in the deserts of California and Arizona and visiting with all he met in his travels. He will be greatly missed by all who have such pleasant memories of him. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
