JONES, Dorothy Fae Longtime resident of Antelope Valley passed away on January 2, 2010, at the age of 90. Dorothy was married to Bobby Jones for 58 years, they moved from Burbank, Calif., in 1942, where they raised their family on a turkey and alfalfa ranch on the Eastside. Dorothy was the hostess for many community BBQs at the ranch; she was involved in numerous organizations and civic activities. Throughout her 60 years of residency in the Antelope Valley she was active with the Eastside PTA, and 4H, she was also active with the Rotary, Emblem Club, and the Horticulture building at the A V Fair and Alfalfa festival. Dorothy work at Baby land on Lancaster Blvd., in the late 40s, and she managed the Singer store in Lancaster in her later years. Dorothy is survived by her four daughters and their spouses. Barbara and Jerry Sterk, Brenda and Allen Lamb, Linda and Butch Peiper, and Toni Tivis, son-in-law Eddie Gant, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Jones 1996, daughter Judy Gant 2002, and great-grandson Joseph Anderson 1992, and son-in-law Norman Tivis 2005. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the employees at the A V Care Center, and Procare Hospice where Dorothy resided for three months, and Mumaw Funeral Home. The Family and Friends of Dorothy Jones will be having a Celebration of her life from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at The Eastside School.
