HICKMAN, George Matthew Passed away on December 6, 2009, in Lancaster, California at the age of 66. He was born September 21, 1943, in Santa Monica, California to Minnie Jean Clausen and George Pendleton Hickman. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Ann Hickman of Lancaster, California; five children; Larry Laurent of Aptos, California, Heidi Hickman Tien of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Ken Laurent of Santa Cruz, California, Tim Grey of Seattle, Washington, and Amy Hickman of Independence, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; his brother Greg Runyon, and his step-sister Sandy Lough of Torrance, California. George was preceded in death by his mother, Jean and his step-father, Myron Runyon. He grew up in Pacific Palisades and attended Paul Revere Junior High and University High School. George joined the Army in 1961, and served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He returned to Southern California and graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills. George worked as a cost accountant for Ampex Corporation and Gillette for many years. He loved spoiling his pets and his grandchildren. George enjoyed traveling and during the past summer he went on his third cruise to Alaska and visited his grandchildren in Kentucky. His favorite destination was the June Lake area in the Eastern Sierras where he enjoyed photographing nature and fishing. George has lived in Lancaster for the past eight years and was an active member in his church, Lutheran Church of the Master. A memorial service for George will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Lutheran Church of the Master, 725 East Ave J in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Master or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
