KEENE, Fredrick 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. A native of California, born Dec. 31, 1932, he was a 13 year resident of Nevada. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Fred was preceded in death by his son, Eric Keene of Lancaster, Calif. He is survived by his wife, of 43 years, Sherry; son, John of Las Vegas; daughters, Tammy Keene of Phoenix, and Kelly Staples of Utah; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Fred enjoyed racing cars, riding motorcycles and golfing. He was a carpenter for 42 years and after retiring, worked part-time for the union doing bannering, working with Car Pac. Viewing will be noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be at 9:20 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. Fred will be missed greatly by his friends and family.
