California report card
This list appeared in the Antelope Valley Press January 11, 2001.Here's a look at California's report card from Education Week magazine's Quality Counts 2001 report:
Standards and Accountability, measuring how well a state tests students according to state standards: B. Last year: B-plus.
Improving Teacher Quality, measuring whether states require tests and set standards for incoming teachers: C-minus, same as last year.
Adequacy of Resources, measuring per-student spending, increases in funding and percent of total resources spent on education: D-minus, same as last year.
Equity of Resources, measuring how equitably money is distributed among schools: C-plus. Last year: C.
