Here is a list of events planned to commemorate the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Representatives from local law enforcement, fire departments and Antelope Valley Hospital have been invited to give an overview of the impact of the Sept. 11 attacks. Services are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Antelope Valley Christian Center, 304 West Lancaster Blvd. For information, call (661) 949-7200.
Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mathew Abraham encourages community members to donate blood. The Blood Donation Center is located in the Outpatient Services lobby and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All walk-in donors will be accommodated or individuals can call (661) 949-5622 to make an appointment.
Participants include the El Dorado Elementary School Honor Choir, the Tehachapi Mountain Pipes & Drums and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Fire Department. The United Way of the Antelope Valley will join with the City of Lancaster to pay tribute to the 9-11 victims from Los Angeles County.

During the prayer vigil, attendees will join with others in prayer and meditation, as well as having prayer requests forwarded to Silent Unity.

The ceremonies will take place simultaneously across the county at exactly 8:46 a.m., to mark the moment when the first of the two World Trade Center towers was attacked, and pay tribute to all of the lives lost in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and in Pennsylvania.
At 8:46 a.m., a flag ceremony will take place in the front of each fire station. Residents will be invited to participate in the ceremony and place flowers or other mementos at the base of the flagpole. Fire station personnel will provide each guest with a commemorative ceremony program featuring the photographs and names of 13 members of the New York City Fire Department who perished in the attacks.
The main speaker at the Wednesday, Sept. 11 event will be Lew Stults, representing Congressman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon. The Grange hall is at 8650 East Ave. T-8. A representative of Assemblyman George Runner also will address the crowd. Invocation will be given by Pastor Jeff Loewen. Music will be provided by Chris Tarke and his Tehachapi Pipes and Drums group. The featured singer will be Rebecca Andrade, 13. Local firefighters and sheriff's deputies are invited to participate.
