Eagle Charter to start flights from Palmdale airport

This story appeared in the Antelope Valley Press June 20, 1996.

By VERN LAWSON
Valley Press Managing Editor

PALMDALE - The first public announcement that all systems are "go" for Eagle Jet Charter to begin Airventure package flights between Palmdale and Laughlin was made Wednesday noon at the Palmdale Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Trudy Breslerman, Eagle's director of casino marketing and sales, told chamber members that the inaugural flight will leave Palmdale on Sunday, July 21, with a two-night stay at Harrah's Laughlin Casino and Hotel.

Package deal

The packages are being sold at $169 per person (double occupancy) at local travel agencies.

Dates for subsequent departures for the two-night, round-trip packages are Aug. 12, 18; Sept. 1, 23; and Oct. 5.

Breslerman said that if this program proves popular, Eagle would like to established service between Palmdale and Las Vegas so that passengers could make connections with other airlines at McCarran Airport to destinations all over the world.

Schedules set

The Harrah's packages will include non-stop, round-trip air transportation; two nights of hotel accommodations, a welcome cocktail, a yacht cruise on the Colorado River, luggage handling, a Harrah's gaming fun book, and two buffet meals.

Preceding Breslerman's presentation, William Wolf, Eagle's director of scheduled airline services, said that the PalmdaleLaughlin flights will use 44-passenger, twin-engine F-27s. Eagle has been in business for nearly 20 years, providing overflights of the Grand Canyon.

The F-27s fly at 220 miles per hour. The Laughlin flights will last about one hour and 15 minutes.

Free parking

It was pointed out that parking at the Palmdale Regional Airport terminal is free.

The chamber met at the Holiday Inn.

A second Palmdale-Laughlin flight-hotel package - with Great American Airways - will be inaugurated Sunday, June 30, returning Wednesday, July 3. The package includes room accommodations and other amenities at the Flamingo Hilton Laughlin.
