JetHawks, start your engines. After more than six years of dreams and seven feverish months of construction, Lancaster Municipal Stadium formally opened with the Lancaster JetHawks hosting the Visalia Oaks. By Brian Golden, sports writer and columnist.

The date was Sept. 15, 1957. The Hollywood Stars were finishing their season - and their existence. Minor league baseball would not return to Los Angeles County for 39 years - not until the Lancaster JetHawks opened the 1996 season at home against the Visalia Oaks at "The Hangar."
