LANCASTER - It took the Lancaster JetHawks 15 minutes to lose a game they waited a day to complete.

Then they turned retro.

Before Wednesday's scheduled game between Lancaster and Rancho Cucamonga, the Quakes put the finishing touches on a 16-6 win that was halted Tuesday night because of a bomb threat.

But then pitcher Trey Moore gave his best performance of the season and the JetHawks threw big innings at their opponent for the first time in a long time in the regularly-scheduled game.

Lancaster (25-28) scored four times in the fourth and the seventh and beat the Quakes 9-1 in front of a paid attendance of 5,187 at The Hangar.

The evening began with a whimper for the JetHawks.

Rancho Cucamonga's Dusty Allen hit a two-run homer off Chad Soden once Tuesday's game was resumed, capping a 16-hit performance by the Quakes that was finally made official when Lancaster went down in order in the ninth.

In order to regain any momentum, the JetHawks needed at least a decent start from Moore.

He gave them a great one.

The left-handed Moore shut out the Quakes over the first six innings, finally giving up an unearned run in the seventh.

Moore (5-4) threw the JetHawks' third nine-inning complete game of the season, striking out seven and walking one.

He got help from his defense - shortstop Mike Lanza started two double plays - and he wasn't thrown off-sync by the two errors that the JetHawks committed.

But Moore's finest moment came when he needed it most.

It came in the sixth, with runners on first and third, no outs and Gary Matthews Jr. at the plate. The JetHawks led 5-0.

Matthews hit a grounder back at Moore, who fielded it cleanly and then caught the runner at third, Keith Eaddy, in a rundown.

Moore tagged Eaddy out himself, without allowing the other runners to advance. Antonio Fernandez then hit a line drive to Lanza, who threw to Chris Dean covering second to double up Rick Gama.

Moore was backed by a four-run fourth that gave the JetHawks a 4-0 lead against Rancho Cucamonga starter Matt Clement.

Jesus Marquez started the scoring with his team-leading 19th homer, a solo drive that hit the maintenance building in right field.

The rally's big blow, however, was Andy Augustine's three-run double with two outs.

Scott Smith drove in the JetHawks' fifth run with an RBI single in the fifth, but the JetHawks left the bases loaded.

That didn't come back to hurt them, though, because they scored four times in the seventh to build a 9-1 lead.

Smith had a two-run double and Quake-killer James Clifford bounced back from being hit with a pitch in two straight at-bats by hitting a towering two-run homer, his 17th.
