Sloppy JetHawks snap streak

Bo Robinson broke a 6-6 tie with a two-run single in the eighth and the JetHawks held on to snap a three-game losing streak.

LANCASTER - One in the fourth. One in the fifth. Two in the eighth.

No, not runs, that's the error tally for Lancaster in Friday night's game against Rancho Cucamonga.

Normally racking up four errors in a game is no way to win a ball game.

Friday night, before a crowd of 2,611 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium, the JetHawks put that theory to the test with an 8-6 win, breaking a three-game losing skid.

Lancaster (13-9) remains one half game behind San Bernardino for first place in the Southern Division after the Stampede beat High Desert 8-2.

Bo Robinson drove in the wining run with a two-run, bases-loaded single in the eighth, that brought in Terrmel Sledge and Juan Silvestre, giving the JetHawks the 8-6 lead and eventual win.

"That was a much needed win for us," Robinson said. "We've been struggling and we scratched and clawed our way back.

"Give the team credit, we haven't been playing well and we knew it. We fell behind early and didn't give up."

Sledge and Silvestre both drew two-out walks to set up Robinson's heroics.

After dominating the Cal League in his first four starts, with three wins and only one earned run, Jeff Heaverlo has run into the Quakes (10-12).

Rancho tagged the star prospect for five runs on Friday and nearly earned him his second loss at the hands of the Quakes in less than a week.

But Lancaster brought in Kenny Rayborn, who earned the win with five innings of one-run relief.

"Heaverlo didn't have a good game but he kept us in it," manager Mark Parent said. "The guys battled at the plate and ran the bases well for us."

Brandon Parker earned his league-high sixth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

After getting down 5-2 through 4 1/2 innings, Lancaster bounded back with the three runs in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.

Catcher Scott Maynard led off the inning with a home run to right center, to bring the JetHawks to within two.

Harvey Hargrove followed with a double down the third-base line. Hargrove would come around to score on Bloomquist's third hit of the night, a single to center field.

Silvestre would close out the inning with a single to center field that scored Robert Gandolfo to knot the game at 5-5.

On the play, Bloomquist was thrown out at third base for the third out but not before Gandolfo came across to score.

"We all saw the first two weeks what these guys can do," Parent said. "When you relax and sit on your laurels you're going to have problems Hopefully we've gotten over that."
