PALMDALE - The free Families in Action program "Fun, Facts and Friends" will celebrate moms from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today at the Neighborhood House, 503 East Ave. Q-3.

"We're going to make handmade flower bouquets for moms this week," said JoLyn Shreves, Families in Action family development coordinator.

"The children will also bake delicious muffins to share with their parent or guardian."

"Fun, Facts and Friends," which takes place Fridays at the Neighborhood House, was created for parents and their children under age 5 to provide support for parents and interactive activities for them and their children.

A new themed activity is presented each week.

Registration is not required.

"This is a great opportunity for parents and children in the neighborhood to meet one another and play together with the kids," Shreves said. "Parents are always encouraged and welcome to take home the lessons and snack recipes that we use in the program so that they can repeat the project at home."

The Families in Action program, funded by Palmdale with additional support from Los Angeles County, also provides parenting and life skills courses for parents and youth. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.
